Some final tips

  • Don't forget that you can search for a specific item with the "Search Blog" field at the top of this page, and that all items are listed under the "Archive" along the right side of the page
  • If you're reading through chronologically, click "Older Posts" when you reach the bottom of the page to reach the next page
  • All photos are clickable to a larger / more detailed version of the photo
  • When in doubt, refer to the Rules (right side of page)
  • Call or email Liz or John if you have any questions
Finally, please try to arrange to bring moving helpers if you're taking a large item. We're packing up our own stuff during the pickup days, so will have limited time to pitch in.

Happy hunting!!

Pool table: $450 / OBO

9' tournament table - the Gandy ""Big G"". Dates back to the 60's, we think - used to be in the Governor's mansion (long story, but true). Three-piece wood-framed slate, ball return, all accessories (cues, new-ish balls, wood rack, etc.) included. Similar model for sale on Norfolk Craigslist for $900, on eBay for $1500 - steal ours for $450!! It's in a 1-step-down basement, but you'll probably want to have it professionally moved / installed at your place. We used CP Dean (804-355-6588), which ran about $200.

This is the only item for sale where we will entertain lower offers than the asking price, and the table will go to the highest bidder. Make us an offer!

The Great Hawthorne Stuff Scramble

Welcome to the Sale!  See full rules at the right of the page, but it's simple. This page will be populated with all of our for sale items at exactly 1:00pm (EST) on Friday, August 15. If you're interested in any of our stuff, go ahead and get familiar with this page, the format, and the rules, since the page will not be available for the hour leading up to the sale kickoff (since we'll be loading it up with all of the HOT DEALS on our SWEET STUFF). But at 1pm, the race is on!

See the sample post, below, to preview the format of the sale posts. Each will contain a title with a set price, a picture of the item, and a brief description. If you want the goods at the price we're asking, click the "Comments" link beneath the picture of that item and leave your name. No need for other contact details - only people that we know personally are eligible (see Rule #2, at right), so we'll know how to contact you.

This is not an auction. We've done our best to price things fairly and don't want to start bidding wars between our friends, so please don't try to "outbid" someone who has already claimed an item at the advertised price. With a few possible exceptions (see rules at right of page), the item will go to the first person who adds their name to the comments.

If you have a question about an item, please email one of us - though it's possible that the item may have been claimed out from under you by the time you get back here.

This is the fairest and simplest way we could think of to divvy up our stuff among our pals who will give it a good home. If you're not interested in any of it, no worries! Otherwise, thanks for playing - and good luck!

- Liz & John
